Hey, thanks for dropping by. Hope you’re enjoying looking around! My name is Rio Ribaya. I’m Filipino and I’ve been trying to write since my Straight-A friends peer pressured me into it in high school.
I was pretty bad at it, actually. Never even made it to our school paper despite trying for three years in a row. My teachers said I needed to read a lot of newspapers so I can straighten my terrible grammar and improve my syntax. I tried so hard that I ended up with a degree in journalism from the University of Santo Tomas years later. That’s where I learned that while some may not have a talent for it, it’s a skill that can still be acquired.

I entered several newsrooms in Manila, Philippines to further improve my craft. Since there’s nothing remotely interesting about me worth talking about, writing news (samples of which you may find here) is the only way I could keep practising. The fact that it’s formulated made it easier to turn it into livelihood for a while, too.
Writing, eventually, became a refuge when I moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where I’m based now. It’s the only thing that made me feel better whenever I feel out of place. Writing about my new lifestyle here even helped me regain my footing and make new friends. You see, it’s more than just a habit. It’s a means for survival, which inspired me to make this website.

I don’t think I’ll ever stop writing. There’s always this itching urge to create and to be better at it than yesterday. Especially now that I found something that’s really worth talking and raving about — my journey to motherhood and starting my own family.
So, keep coming back. I’ll do my best to create content that will be worth your while.
